DRY NEEDLING

Dry Needling is an effective, safe, and efficient treatment for patients suffering from musculoskeletal pain. A small, thin needle is inserted into the muscle where tight, taut trigger points are palpated by the therapist. The goal of this needle is to contract the muscle and then relax it. This treatment is effective for patients with chronic muscle or joint pain, muscle inhibition, or are looking to increase muscle performance. This can be done in many fashions depending on patient preference.

GRASTON SOFT TISSUE TECHNIQUE

Graston Technique® is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. This techinque has the same goal as ASTYM, but achieves it through different tools and techniques (think Pepsi and Coke, the same, bu different).  The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas with tissue fibrosis/stiffness or chronic inflammation.

BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION TRAINING

Bloof Flow Restriction Training is a newer approach that involves limiting blood flow back to the heart from an exercising limb (limiting, not stopping). This creates a metabolic reaction which is similar to what happens when one works out with high weight or load. The best part? Minimal loading is needed. The metabolic crises that occurs creates a huge reflexive blood flow surge and a hormonal response that promotes healing of tissue and muscle growth. This means we can have effect similar to lifting heavy weight with very minimal loads, making training like this great for post surgical conditions, osteoporosis, excessive weakness and much more!

SELECTIVE FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT ASSESSMENT

This Assessment is the backbone to all the other techniques we choose to implement when treating you at Chandler Physical Therapy. At Chandler Physical Therapy, we pride ourselves on taking a whole body and holistic approach to your recovery – the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) looks at how the whole body moves as a unit, and then breaks each movement down to identify individual dysfunctions that can be treated. Our belief at Chandler Physical Therapy is that time spent in assessment saves time in treatment.

Custom Orthotic Prescription and Fitting:

While this is one of our specialties, we aren’t going to recommend this treatment first. Initially, we will look at all aspects of your gait mechanics, not just your feet – determine where the problem is coming from. We make sure that trouble areas are addressed and that you are educated in what you can do down the road for prevention. We manage all foot pain with a holistic approach and only when that fails will we go down the road towards orthotics. Should you need a pair, we look at the rearfoot and forefoot as well as take activity, shoe-wear, and comfort into account. We use a local company to mill out our orthotics so you can be ensured the fastest turn around times available.

Balance Training/Fall Prevention:

Nothing is worse than a fall. Often, patients do not realize their balance has been compromised until it is too late. Our proactive approach will address strength issues, joint position awareness (proprioception), inner ear calibration, visual dependency issues and much more.

Vestibular/Vertigo Rehabilitation:

Vertigo is often left untreated due to patient’s ‘having it for years’, or ‘just dealing with it’. We treat all origins of vertigo, whether it is from inner ear dysfunction, visual tracking issues, or lack of positional awareness in the joints (proprioception).

Wellness Program:

We offer patients the opportunity to continue their exercise program independently at our facility when they are finished with therapy. For a low monthly rate you can come in at your own leisure and utilize our equipment to continue and further your home program.

Personal Training Following Rehabilitation:

We also offer personal training sessions for that one-on-one guidance and encouragement. The benefit to this is it involves the same great team who knows your health history and can take that into account when progressing you.
